Counseling Intern

Barbara is a third-year grad student in Central Methodist University’s M.S. in Clinical Counseling program. She also holds an M.A. in business and a B.A in English. A renaissance woman, her career path has been deliberate and exciting: from ad agency to sales and marketing executive, to college professor, to executive coach, public speaker, corporate trainer, and consultant. She is also a dedicated foodie and avid reader, cyclist, meditator, and artist.

Through it all, connecting with and supporting others on their journey has been her life’s work and passion. She has years of experience helping others struggling with chronic stress/burnout, personal boundaries, grief/loss, anxiety, change, fears, relationship issues, career planning/choices, leadership challenges, decision-making, or the occasional overwhelm of Life. She can help you learn to embrace and tame your anxiety or phobias, dig into and work on interpersonal communication or public speaking challenges. She is also a certified facilitator of Prepare/Enrich—a program designed to help newly engaged or newly married couples navigate potential stressors in their relationship.

Barbara’s therapeutic areas of interest are grounded in Emotionally Focused and Gottman couples therapies as well as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Prolonged Exposure Therapy for anxiety, depression, and trauma. Her genuine care, compassion, openness, and curiosity spring from her vast life experiences. She’s passionate about supporting clients as they work through their unique challenges and re-discover their strengths and resilience.
